Give a girl a break, will ya?
Guess who has his first day of school today?
No, it's not Spiderman, but that's a good guess, what with the web-slinging pose we got goin' on there. It's MHP (Mr. Handsome Pants) himself!
And guess who lost his first tooth last night, inadvertently swallowing it while eating his PB&J?
No, not Spiderman, but again, with the webslinging thing. He does that with every picture I take, and I will be surprised if he gets a school photo taken that DOESN'T have him doing that.
So! I am ACTUALLY going to talk about KNITTING TODAY. I've decided to spare you all the rest of my Vegas pictures, but they all pretty much look like this
(that's Chad Kroeger from Nickelback, I took about 19 pictures at the concert, as I LOVE CHAD and this is the best one...very sad.)
or this
(that's indoors, at the Forum Shops at Caesar's. They like to paint the ceilings in a couple of the casinos/shopping malls like the sky so you don't realize that you've been there for 4 hours and that it is now pitch black outside.)
So I don't have any cool knitting pictures - my camera has been overtaxed, what with the tooth-losing, the first day of school and Vegas. BUT! I have started a Rogue.
Yes. The girl who still has a sweater in pieces that she finished knitting a little over a year ago and has never finished because now she is EMBARASSED by the crappiness of her knitting that long ago, she is starting a real live sweater. And a super complicated one that may end up frogged with a second life as a cat toy.
I am completely obsessed with this sweater. It has 3 things that I VERY MUCH enjoy. It has Celtic patterns, (go figure why I like those...), it has a kangaroo front pocket, and a hood. What can be better than that?
The yarn is. I bought Lion Brand Wool-Ease..HEY! Don't make that face at me, I LIKE IT! Plus, it cost me $30 for all the yarn I needed, PLUS SOME! So there. Take your big expensive hand spun yarn that looks like the sun setting over Aruba and go knit in your own corner. :)
Speaking of handpainted yarn, I bought some of that too, a long time ago. I bought a skein of Schaefer yarn in Billie Holliday (loverly blues and purples) and am knitting a Clapotis. Actually, kind of a shorter, thinner bastardized version of it, so I'm veering off the knitted path a bit. I'm scared, and have frogged the damn thing 10 times, but I'm about a foot into it now, so there's no turning back. The dropping of stitches in this pattern is, at the same time, paralyzingly terrifying and very very fun.
Speaking of frogging, we are not speaking of the Pacific Northwest Shawl at this time. It is in time-out with no chance of parole unless I find an errata listing somewhere, because I keep f*cking up the pattern at the same place over and over and over and over and over and after a while you start to wonder...
I joined a knit-along! I am trying my dangdest to knit up some Friday Harbor socks for the Knitting on the Road KAL, but I think the pattern hates me. It decided to stage a revolt about 3/4 of the way through the cuff (and the latest episode of Prison Break, ruining my concentration and pissing me RIGHT OFF) and so now it's frogged and sitting in a pile of banished objects on my couch, along with one other sock I got bored with and the Neverending Story Shawl, which we will not speak of until I finish it.
Oh, and I never did tell y'all this (I keep getting sidetracked) but I finished the Scribble Lace wrap in time to take it to Vegas, and it came in very handy when hanging out in air-conditioned spots...I kept getting cold indoors!
